*Call to Worship            Pam Lange
One: Love is more than being gentle, or generous, or caring.

Loving like Jesus requires us to risk being hurt.
All: We’re here to love as Jesus loves, even if it involves a cross.
One: Love is more than being nice, or agreeable, or even polite.

Loving like Jesus means standing with the last and the least.
All: We’re here to become the living body of Christ;

loving the oppressed, the outcast, and the poor.
One: Love is more than being tolerant, accepting or even affirming.

Loving like Jesus moves us beyond our comfort zones.
All: We’re here to lay down all the fears that divide us

so that we may love as Jesus loves.

*Hymn No. 22  “All Creatures of Our God and King”

*Prayer of the Day                                                          Pam Lange

Forgive us, Dear God of Grace,

for seeking to limit your love to the people we love.                      Create a new heart within each of us and all of us:

a heart brimming over with love.

Remove from us the spirit of fear and fill us with

not only the power but the joy of your Holy Spirit.                                                 We ask all this in the name of Jesus

so that we may love as he loves us. Amen.

MAY’S COMMUNITY OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY In honor of the youth, past and present, who annually did a 30-hour famine to benefit World Vision, we will be collecting monetary gifts on their behalf. World Vision International is an ecumenical Christian humanitarian aid, development, and advocacy organization. It provides emergency and advocacy work for those living in poverty and struck with natural disasters and war. Food insecurity is growing: Over 258 million people across 58 countries face crisis or higher levels of food insecurity. · The war in Ukraine, Israel and Gaza are impacting global hunger: food insecurity is rising worldwide. · Food insecurity forces distressing choices: When families don’t have enough to eat/ buy food, they must make difficult/ dangerous decisions that impact their children’s well-being and put them at risk of violence. · Millions of children are dangerously malnourished: 30 million children suffer from wasting.  We are also collecting non-perishable food items for Fish & Loaves, our local food pantry. All checks can be made out to St. Paul United Church of Christ and marked World Vision on the memo line. One check will then be sent to World Vision in June. Food donations can be dropped in the box located in the Narthex. Thank you for all your support and generosity. Pastor Schalm.
