EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILL The Safety and Security Ministry will have an Emergency Evacuation Drill of the entire Church, weather permitting. The safety of our congregation is very important, and we are constantly working to maintain and improve it. Everyone will be escorted from the building in an orderly fashion by our Emergency Response Team. Members of the ERT team will be wearing armbands with yellow reflective tape. It is important that everyone follow the direction of the ERT members to ensure that the evacuation is done in a timely and safe manner.
OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED OFFERING will be received Sundays throughout October. This offering is one of our United Church of Christ Special Mission Offerings that assists our American Indian Ministries and supports education, justice, peace, and the rights of the poor and needy. Information about the NIN Offering, and an envelope, are in the October Tidings. You will also find NIN envelopes in the pew racks. On behalf of the Stewardship of St. Paul, please give as generously as you are able to those in need. Thank you.
OUR CONGREGATION is providing overnight housing as part of our annual participation in the ChristNet Homeless Shelter during October 13-20. We offer our ChristNet guests breakfast and supper, as well as a brown bag lunch to go. The guests are expected to arrive at 6 p.m. every evening and depart 7 a.m. the following morning. Male and female volunteers are needed to serve as hosts for half a night, assist with Sunday morning clean-up, launder linens on Sunday morning, and transport bedding and supplies to the next host church. Hosts have a choice of shifts, 5:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. or 12 midnight to 6 a.m. To help defray the costs donations including breakfast foods, other supplies, and financial donations are welcomed. Church organizations are preparing dinners for guests. Kim Martinez is our coordinator. Please look for the ChristNet sign-up table in the Narthex or near the kiosk in Fellowship Hall during Coffee Hour.
THE SEWING GUILD Sew ‘n Sews is looking for anyone who knits or crochets and would like to make baby blankets, lap blankets, kid size blankets, baby or kid's cancer hats. All yarn will be supplied. Please contact Sharon Leonard or the church office if you are able to help us utilize a large donation of yarn. It would be great if you could attend our meetings, but not necessary. We meet in the West Room the third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. Bring a sandwich, dessert and coffee are provided. Join us for 'food for thought'. Our next meeting is Thursday, October 17, 10:00 a.m.
ALTAR GUILD has opportunities for volunteers to maintain the altar candles and to ensure the paraments (cloths on the lectern and pulpit) are changed accordingly. There are no meetings to attend. All materials and training are provided at your convenience. For more information please contact Sue Mrowka or Marjie Barnard.

THE “2019” FALL YOUTH RETREAT is November 2 - 3 at the Michindoh Resort and Conference Center. “The Perfect Example” is this year’s theme. Think about Jesus as a teen. What would it have been like to spend a day with Him? What games might he have liked? Sports? What was he like in school? Was he friendly? Would you have befriended Him? Was He exclusive? Was He perfect? Throughout the weekend we will be talking about friendships and relationships as we dig into, and look at the example Jesus has left for us. Plan to join your church friends for a weekend of fun, fellowship and spiritual growth. Mark your planners and sign up now! For more information or questions, please contact Pastor Schalm.
USHERS NEEDED Anyone interested in volunteering can visit our Usher Sign-up Board located in the Narthex (back) of the Church. Being an usher is easy and experience is not necessary. Our Deacons will be glad to answer any questions and walk you through the process prior to the worship service.
LECTORS (Scripture readers) are needed to read during worship services. No previous experience is needed. Training can be provided. Copies of all readings are available Thursday or Friday of each week and for your convenience can be emailed to you by our church’s administrative assistant, Cindy Romas.
